Gravel, dunes, pine forests, and maybe even a chameleon — this 22 km loop near Bolonia packs more magic than most rides twice its length. Scenic climbs, fast descents, and a post-ride dip in the ocean? Yes, please.

We roll out near Bolonia beach— home to a literal mountain of sand. The Duna de Bolonia, one of Europe’s biggest moving dunes, is quietly going on a mission to consume the forest—think of it as nature’s version of “I’m in charge here.”

Then? Gravel heaven. A primo stretch of pine forest singletrack, where the shade is as good as the scent, and your chances of spotting a chameleon are directly proportional to how much you believe. Who knows, that chameleon might even be a fan of carbon rims...

Soon enough, you’re cruising straight onto the Duna de Valdevaqueros — where bikes and beach vibes collide. It’s the kind of place where you wonder if you should keep pedaling or just park your bike and pretend you’re in a travel ad. Either way, it's a win, because who’s complaining when the scenery’s this good?

Then comes a stretch of tarmac — and with it, the legendary climb back towards Bolonia. It’s a view-tastic ascent, the kind that almost makes you forget how much your legs hurt. Luckily, what goes up must come down — and the descent is so fast it could blow the sunscreen off your face (not that there's any left — it probably melted somewhere halfway up the hill).

Ride done, legs still functional, mood: excellent. Helmet off, sunnies on — let’s see what Bolonia’s hiding behind all that sparkle. A bit of exploring? A snack by the sea? Or maybe just a well-earned lounge in the sun. Bonus points if you packed your swim stuff — because a dip in the ocean is highly recommended. And if you’re feeling extra curious, there’s even an archaeological site to wander around. Bikes, beaches, and ancient ruins? Not a bad combo.
